There are many music schools that don't offer a comprehensive orchestral discipline because of a lack of qualified string players. So IVASI has developed an interactive video guide to help musicians gain an advantage in their craft in this difficult and fast disappearing job field.
During a mock audition held for 12 master classes for flute, oboe, etc. the musicians were judged by 3 members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. After the audition, the players were asked if they had ever performed the works. Surprisingly, most of the players said they had never played any of the works and few came across it only once. Thus was born the IVASI.
A musician simply plays one of the IVASI DVDs to practice with masterpieces such as Finlandia, Carmen, Dvorak, and many more. A virtual conductor guides the musician with a full orchestra, allowing for the possibility of learning the musical piece without actually having to join an orchestra.
With the current use of the DVD format, the process becomes extremely simplified because it give the musician the abliity to search for rehearsal points and repeat difficult areas. The best part is that the musician no longer has to rely solely on sheet music to practice, but can follow along with their own virtual conductor in the comfort of their own home.
IVASI has prepared over 46 major symphonic masterpeices filmed with professional conductor using state-of-the-art Hollywood studio techniques. Here are few examples of the pieces found in the DVDs:
"All the students agreed that their experience with IVASI was a most valuable and rewarding one and wished all their schools had the system." - Brian T. Kilp, Professor of Horn/Theory at The University of Indiana
"The video is extremely helpful to those performing along and perhaps the greatest benefit to many horn players." - Richard Fries, Concert Band Director
"The orchestral excerpts and group studies are extremely valuable learning aids." - Dr. William Scharnberg, Former President of the International Horn Society
